Design (e.g. Indecision)

I decided to use EQ6 to design quilt number 1. I’m not sure if this is the preferred “Art Quilt” way but I need all the help I can get. For this quilt I probably would have been just fine winging it but, as I’ve mentioned before, I’m a big art quilting scaredy cat.

My first attempt:

It’s not bad, but the original quilt had lots of different circles and was much more random. My take-away lesson so far is that I am a lot more symmetrical than I thought I was.

Attempt number 8:

Notice the symmetry. I like this one but it’s a bit too busy. It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the binding here is black & white and that strikes me as too heavy so I changed the border on quilt number 11:

Better.

Quilt number 27 and -at this point- the winner:

I’ve broken (kind of – sort of) out of the symmetry and there seems to be some movement here. I’m still debating the borders but at least I can start cutting out the black & white part.
